കേരളത്തിലെ മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ അണക്കെട്ടിന്റെ രണ്ടു ഷട്ടറുകൾ തമിഴ്നാട് വെളളിയാഴ്ച രാവിലെ 7.25 മണിക്ക് തുറന്നു. ഏഴു മണിയാണ് ആദ്യം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ സാങ്കേതിക തടസ്സം മൂലം വൈകുകയായിരുന്നു. 3, 4 എന്നീ ഷട്ടറുകളാണ് തുറന്നതെന്ന് റവന്യു മന്ത്രി കെ. രാജൻ ന്യൂസ് 18 നോട് പറഞ്ഞു. 0.35 മീറ്റർ ആണ് ഉയർത്തുന്നത്.കനത്ത മഴയെത്തുടർന്ന് ജലനിരപ്പ് 138 അടി കവിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച രാവിലെ 6 മണിക്ക് 138.70 അടിയായിരുന്നു അണക്കെട്ടിലെ ജലനിരപ്പ്.ഒക്ടോബർ 31 വരെ ജലനിരപ്പ് 138 അടിയായി നിലനിർത്താനായി വെള്ളം തുറന്നുവിടാനാണിത്. 534 ഘനയടി ജലമാണ് മുല്ലപെരിയാറിൽ നിന്നും പുറത്തേക്ക് ഒഴുക്കുന്നതെന്ന് തമിഴ്നാട് അറിയിച്ചു.രണ്ടു ഷട്ടറുകളിൽ നിന്നായി 267 ഘനയടി ജലം വീതം 534 ഘനയടി ജലമാണ് പുറത്തേക്ക് ഒഴുക്കി വിടുന്നത്.സ്പിൽവേയിലൂടെ തുറന്നുവിടുന്ന വെള്ളം 20 മിനിറ്റിനുള്ളിൽ പെരിയാറിലൂടെ വള്ളക്കടവിൽ എത്തുമെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. മഞ്ഞുമല, വണ്ടിപ്പെരിയാർ, മ്ലാമല, ചപ്പാത്ത്, ആലടി, ഉപ്പുതറ വഴി ഇടുക്കി ജലസംഭരണിയിൽ ചേരും. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ അണക്കെട്ടിന്റെ ഷട്ടറുകൾ ഉയർത്തിയതിന് ശേഷം ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ഏത് സാഹചര്യവും നേരിടാൻ കേരള സർക്കാർ തയ്യാറാണെന്ന് കേരളത്തിലെ മന്ത്രിമാർ അറിയിച്ചു . തമിഴ്നാട് ഷട്ടറുകൾ ഉയർത്തുന്നതിന് മുന്നോടിയായി മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ അണക്കെട്ടിന് താഴെയുള്ള ആളുകളെ ഒഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നതായി കേരള ജലവിഭവ മന്ത്രി റോഷി അഗസ്റ്റിൻ അറിയിച്ചു.മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഡാമിൻ്റ സംഭരണ ശേഷി 12.758 ടി എം സി ജലമാണ്. ഇടുക്കിയുടേത് 70.5 ടി എം സി യും. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാറിലെ ജലനിരപ്പ് 138 അടിയിൽ നിലനിർത്തുന്നതിന് ആവശ്യമായ ജലം തുറന്നു വിട്ടാൽ ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിൽ നാലിലൊന്നു അടി മാത്രമേ ജലനിരപ്പ് ഉയരുകയുളളു. 2398.3l അടി വെളളം സംഭരിക്കാൻ ശേഷിയുള്ളപ്പോഴാണ് 2398.08 അടി ജലനിരപ്പെത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഇടുക്കി ഡാം തുറന്നത്. അതിനാൽ മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാറിൽ നിന്ന് തുറന്നു വിടുന്ന ജലം ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാൻ ഇടുക്കിക്ക് കഴിയുമെന്നും കണക്കുകൾ ഉദ്ധരിച്ച് മന്ത്രി റോഷി അഗസ്റ്റിൻ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ മുതൽ ഇടുക്കി വരെയുള്ള 24 കിലോമീറ്റർ മുല്ലയാറിൽ ഏകദേശം 60 സെ.മീ താഴെ മാത്രമാണ് ജലനിരപ്പ് ഉയരാൻ സാധ്യതയുള്ളൂ. പുഴയിൽ രണ്ടടി വെള്ളമുയർന്നാൽ ബാധിക്കുന്ന 350 കുടുംബങ്ങളിലെ 1079 പേരെയും സുരക്ഷിതമായി മാറ്റിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. 11 കുടുബത്തിലെ 35 പേരെ വണ്ടിപ്പെരിയാർ മോഹന ഓഡിറ്റോറിയത്തിലേക്കും നാല് കുടുബത്തിലെ 19 പേരെ വണ്ടിപ്പെരിയാർ സെൻ്റ് ജോസഫ് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് മീഡിയം സ്കൂളിലും സജ്ജമാക്കിയ ക്യാമ്പിലേക്കും മാറ്റി. മറ്റുള്ളവർ ബന്ധു ഭവനങ്ങളിലേക്കാണ് മാറിയിട്ടുള്ളത്.വെള്ളത്തിൻ്റെ ഒഴുക്ക് സുഗമമാക്കുന്നതിന് മുല്ലയാറിലെ തടസങ്ങൾ നീക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും മന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്കായി എസ്റ്റേറ്റുകളുടെ ഗേറ്റുകൾ എല്ലാം തുറന്നിടാൻ നിർദ്ദേശം നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. വില്ലേജ്, താലുക്ക്, കലക്ട്രേറ്റിൽ ജില്ലാതലത്തിലും 24 മണിക്കൂറും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന കൺട്രോൾ റൂമുകൾ തുറന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്.
